657 | The House at the Sea of Fog | Schönenberg, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

In Switzerland, we can’t build houses at the sea, but a house at the sea of fog is almost as beautiful. That evening, a layer of fog was resting above the landscape. This farm house looked like they built it at the shore of the sea of fog.

658 | Tree in the Sky | Schönenberg, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

The world just above the fog sometimes looks truly breathtaking. The civilisation vanishes and only the most prominent of landscapes characteristics are visible. Like this tree hovering above the clouds. Sadly, this spectacle was over as fast as it appeared.

659 | Last Ride 2017 | Schönenberg, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

In the last daylight, the fog was slowly moving across the landscape. A traveler painted some trails into my photo with his backlights of his car. A moment like a fairy-tale.

660 | Christmas Fire | Schönenberg, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

At the first Christmas day, I was standing in the backyard of my family in Schönenberg. The sun was slowly setting behind the hills and the clouds began getting a reddish color. A frozen track led me to these trees which set on fire by the afterglow.

661 | Frozen Passion | Alt St.Johann, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

At the beginning of the year my pulse is rising. The passion to see the core of our home galaxy again is guiding me into the Swiss nature no matter how cold the nights are. Like this night in the snowy region called Toggenbrug. The snow was deep as the temperature, which was -10°C. After the exhausting hike through the darkness I was standing there once again, the Milky Way shining in my eyes, almost forgetting to press the shutter of my camera.

637 | Vista of my Ancestors | Schönenberg, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

For more than 30 years I’m visiting my family for Christmas in the canton of Zurich. When on that morning thick fog was lying over Lake Zurich I brought my camera for the first time with me. Arrived at the farmhouse of my ancestors the vista was just breathtaking. The fog was slowly moving over the hills vegetated with solitary trees. What a great view from the garden of my grandparents.

638 | Breathing | Mythen Region, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

When I was looking over the sea of clouds to the far away alps I had the feeling I was able to take a deeper breath than usual. The air was that clear. In this picture, you can see Mount Kleiner Mythen (1811m) on the left, Mount Grosser Mythen (1898m) on the right and Rigi Hochflue (1698m) in the front. In the background, the Schwyz and Glarus Alps reaching into the sky.

639 | Frozen Pfannenstiel | Meilen, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

I haven’t seen so much snow on Mount Pfannenstiel (853m) for a long time. When I reached the top, nobody else was there. Just me and the slowly moving fog above the landscape. Pure silence in this deep-frozen world.

640 | Toggenburg Fairy Tale | Alt St.Johann, Switzerland

The story behind the picture:

The mountain chain Churfirsten is one of my favourites in Switzerland. A couple of times already it was the main subject of my photos. This evening should be a very special one. After a short hike through the snow covered Toggenburg I had a wonderful view to the peaks of Mount Frümsel (2263m) and Mount Selun (2205m). The setting sun set the clouds on fire and created a mood like a fairy tale.
