This image was captured during a spontaneous trip to Paris. On a late afternoon I hopped on the TGV and the journey began. Arrived in the city of love I started walking to the planned locations to take the photos which I had in mind. At 02:00 I captured this photo on the bridge Pond de Bir-Hakeim. After I walked 36km during the night I took the train back to Zurich in the next morning. Tired but happy I fell into the chair.

The city of Zurich is on clear days a wonderful place to enjoy the mountain view. In this picture you can see two of the landmarks, the church Grossmünster on the left side of the river Limmat and the church Fraumünster on the right hand side. In the background the snowy peaks of the Glarus and Schwyz Alps are nicely visible.

This is one of my most successful pictures of all time. It shows a 150sec exposure of the skyline of Lower Manhatten early in the morning. After a long day walking through the city I fell asleep at 4:30 a.m. right next to my camera.

Six months after traveling to New York I finally managed it to process this image. "12 Minutes of New York" shows a panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline taken at 5:20 A.M. and contains 8 vertical 90sec exposures. That means the photo shows actual 12 minutes of the city at dawn. This photo was my first of two attempts which turned out better than the second one, mainly due to daylight overexposure. The passing by boats made this shot quite nerve-wrecking.

Even in the city center the river Limmat is like a mirror early in the morning and reflects the surrounding better than a lot of lakes in the mountains. There’s just one rule to consider, come before the ducks are awake. When the ducks are swimming in the river the reflection is mostly gone. This photo I was able to capture on a wonderful morning in spring.

Zurich has two faces as I know it. The stressful and loud big city life is the part I don’t like. The other side, the silent and slow one even I, as a nature lover, like it. During the night and early in the morning it is possible to capture unique moments. This elder lady took a break in my picture, when on the other side of the Limmat the tourists went to the towers of the church Grossmünster.

At this place the world feels if there are no problems around. The picture shows the early hours at the river Limmat. The churches Fraumünster and St.Peter as well as the old town of Zurich reflecting wonderful in the river. It looks like the time is standing still.

The elder Lady seemed like she was in a familiar environment. Probably she already was checking the time on the tower of the church St.Peter when she was a little girl. The old town of Zurich in the morning is a magical place.

High above Zurich there are two of the most famous educational institutions, the ETH and the University of Zurich. But not only those two buildings are eye candy, the Limmatquai and the Old town called Niederdorf are worth a visit as well.

At dawn the streets of Zurich transform to golden lanes. In this picture you can see the Uraniastrasse which is leading to the ETH, the University of Zurich and the Protestant Church.

This sunset at the tram station Central was on my to do list for a long time. The construction was finished and the weather looked promising. First the clouds got thicker and thicker and a short rain shower moved across the city. But in the right moment the sun punched through the clouds. It was just for a minute but the scenery was perfect. Zurich, for me one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

During the day some clouds were moving in heading west. At sunset the clouds above the Hotel Dolder Grand looked like fire in the sky, the red color was so intense! I was standing there with big eyes and enjoyed the jaw dropping atmosphere. A so beautiful sunset I hadn’t seen above the city of Zurich for a long time.

The forecast predicted wind and rain. Nevertheless, I finally wanted to realize a picture which I had in mind for quite a while. On the surface of the newly build Sechseläuten Platz the Zurich Opera was reflecting very beautiful. The windy weather had the benefit that no one was standing there for a longer time. Therefore, the city looks almost deserted. Lonesome in metropolitan areas, a magical and surreal vista.

Most of the time I prefer being in the nature, but from time to time I find myself in the big cities of this world. One of my favorites is Amsterdam. With its small rivers called Grachten the stressful urban life becomes calm.

Lonely in Zurich, that's a feeling you rarely get. This early morning I was all alone on the Münsterbrücke for a few seconds. No cars, no pedestrians, just me with my camera. I really appreciate being able to experience such moments in the big city.

Back in June I’ve spent one of the nicest weeks of the year with perfect weather around New York City. For several days I had crystal clear skies without any clouds. Even in the middle of the night the conditions were perfect for taking some nice shots. Early in de morning I had some places just for myself. This photo was taken at the shore of the East River at 02:30 a.m. It shows a 135 sec long exposure of the world famous Brooklyn Bridge with the newly built Freedom Tower in the back.

It illuminates the river Limmat and is leading directly to the heart of the old town called Niederdorf. In this picture, you see the University of Zurich on the left-hand side, the Protestant Church in the middle and the landmark of Zurich, the Grossmünster, on the very right.

When I see the Grossmünster at dawn, I think the towers are like twins waiting together for the rising sun. This was also the case on this colourful morning.
