The story behind the picture: In the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park the biggest attraction is the volcano Kilauea with its glowing crater Hale Ma'uma'u. At night you're able to observe the orange glow of the lava. On this evening Mauna Loa (4169m) was stealing the show. As every other tourist I was taking pictures of the crater, when my girlfriend suddenly told me: "Hey check that out! It looks like the sky is burning over there!" I turned around and the clouds were "on fire"! Now I could have written, after a couple of hours hiking through the burned landscape I reached this very spot just in time for the sunset. The truth is that it was just a short sprint across the parking lot. In the end Hawaii is still part of the United States. At least I could imagine how it was when the landscape was burning and a new part of earth was created. Calculate Price
