The story behind the picture: This picture has been taken on top of Mauna Kea on Hawaii at 4200m. That night I couldn’t believe what I’ve captured on my camera. The night sky was so green like I’ve never seen it before. These are not northern lights! The Subaru telescope on the left and a part of the W. M. Keck Observatory were illuminated by airglow, a faint emission of light by a planetary atmosphere. Furthermore, the less bright part of the Milky Way was shining from above.
