#104 - Stars on Mars

Maui, Hawaii

The story behind the picture:
On top of the extinct volcano Haleakala (3055m) on the island of Maui the nights are very dark. In fact, that dark that I was able to shoot the galactic core with relatively low ISO. Therefore, the foreground was a bit a problem. It was pitch black and not very nice to have in the photo. I had to be ingenious! I mounted my camera on the tripod, triggered the shot with the remote and then stepped for 2 seconds on the break of my rental car. The red breaking lights gave the surrounding the Martian look.
